To, subtract mixed numbers first you need to make them improper fractions then make common denomnators and then subtract.
Example: Alabama won 2 1/2 of there games but the ncaa took away1 1/3 of there games due to illegal scolarships how many games now have they won?
1st 2 1/2 = to 5/2 and 1 1/3 = to 4/3 5/2 = 15/6 4/3 = to 8/6 15/6- 8/6= 7/6 = 1 1/6
